God damn it FFG...

RANT INCOMING:

So FFG have backtracked like a bunch of cowards and made it so both the old and new damage deck for X-Wing are usable in tournaments for the foreseeable future. Now people can just pick the old deck which has stuff that doesn't affect some lists at all, good going. Interviews and such had their lead designer explain why the new deck was more fair and balanced for competitive play and I see why. But a bunch of whiners and cheapskates were complaining that they shouldn't have to buy the new core set for competitive play.

A miniatures game with its first "mandatory" update in almost 4 years after it started is amazing. Other table top games change that shit every year. The old damage deck doesn't affect certain lists much at all, the new damage deck affects all ships no matter what equipped, this is nonsense. If you claim you can afford the entry fee for multiple tourneys and such, but can't drop money on a damage deck off eBay or buy the new core set, you're a liar.

I hope it's just temporary and they have the old core set update with the new deck in the next batch they release. Because that is the only problem I see, new players picking up the old set for the classic ships and finding out they can't use the deck - That is the only valid reason for this at the moment, but even then it's a weak one. What new player jumps straight into tournaments.

Here above is the old card, allowing you to still use actions on upgrade cards, the one's you're more likely to use anyway some would argue.

Here above is the new one, notice how it actually matters more, making it important to get rid of it. This is just one example, but there are more.

I know probably no one will read this, but I had to get it off my chest.

Went to visit my parents, played some X-Wing

My Dad wanted to have a go, so we had two games one on one and then a third game with two versus two. We had a lot of fun, and they want to play again some time too, which is awesome.

My not so young apprentice examines his maneuver dials.

First epic game, was a blast!

So a little while back Matt and I played our first epic size game, we went with 250 points to see how it goes, it did not disappoint! I was Imperials and he had control of the rebel forces, this was his first time flying a huge ship, I've had experience with the campaigns that come with the CR-90 and the GR-75 rebel ships.

Both forces are deployed, the rebels taking up an interesting setup.

Cerberus Road to Nationals

Been a bit since I have updated, was at the Cerberus games Road to Nationals a little while back, figured I could give a brief summary!

This was me running my three Tie Advanced list, which garnered a lot of curious looks from other players.

Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!

For those not in the know, Pathfinder is a tabletop role playing game, think cooperative storytelling with dice and making silly voices etc. Basically, one person runs the game, taking the role of the NPC's (non-player characters) both friendly to the players and enemies such as goblins and anything else that is not the players characters. As for the player, they create or "roll up" a character, choose a class such as wizard, warrior (think of it as the things the specialize in) and a race such as human, gnome or elf. We take up a mindset as that character and play through the trials and challenges the game master or "GM" puts before us, but we have to use knowledge that our characters have, not what we as players know. It's really fun and become one of my favorite hobbies over the last few years. I run a game every second Sunday, and play in a game every Thursday night run by my good friend Charles.

So some friends and I are playing a Pathfinder campaign called Skull and Shackles, we're a few sessions in and have been having a blast. It's a pirate themed campaign, one where our characters were kidnapped and forced to work on a pirate ship.

Cerberus tournament preparation

So I've been having a few practice games with a list to see what has more punch to it. The only kind of thing it hasn't faced is a swarm of any kind, but I think it may do okay there too, with some hard work anyways.

First game was against some Scum forces, two Interceptors and the HWK-290.

We're set up an away. Interceptors have heavy laser cannons, deadly at long range.

Two turns later, my Imperials led by Lord Vader close in and take one out.

Game ends after my opponent loses his second interceptor, my forces only taking two shields of damage due to lucky evasive rolls.

There has been a disturbance in the force...

So I set this blog up a while ago and have yet to do something with it, I figure my first post should be showing what I have for each X-Wing Miniatures faction.

My Rebel forces, you may notice I have several X-Wings, despite them being considered under powered, I like flying them.

Like any Imperial player, I have a decent amount of Tie fighters, which I love running, but I have no favorite ship with the Imperial forces. They are however my over all preferred faction.

Who cannot resist the temptation of Scum and Villainy!? Bounty Hunters are cool and being able to fly Boba, IG-88 and Bossk made them a must have for me.

Not a lot for a first post, I will start putting up more stuff to do with playing and modelling as well, am working on some Imperial Assault figures at the moment, will put some up when they're done. Until next time, however long that may be...
